Personal Experience & Biography

Petra advises campaigns, political committees, tax-exempt organizations, and individuals on compliance with campaign finance and other areas of political law.

Petra advises clients on all aspects of their political activities, regularly reviewing communications and fundraising efforts for compliance, advising on the use cryptocurrency for political contributions and how to correctly report those transactions, and advising clients on the best practices for filing campaign finance reports. Petra has represented clients in matters before the Federal Election Commission, including complaints, advisory opinion requests, audits, and other enforcement proceedings. She regularly participates in the research, drafting, and production of client responses and complaints to federal administrative agencies and litigation regarding federal campaign finance issues.

Petra also helps clients manage multi-state operations, including multi-million-dollar independent expenditure and voter outreach programs, and the related compliance with federal and state campaign finance reporting requirements. During the 2020 election cycle, she worked with an extensive network of attorneys around the country to oversee and manage the compliance program for a federal hybrid PAC spending $4.5 million on field programs targeting over one-hundred legislative races in thirty-four states.

Petra is a graduate of West Virginia Wesleyan College (B.S.) and Ave Maria School of Law (J.D.). While in law school, she was the Managing Editor of the Law Review.

Petra is a member of the New York State Bar and District of Columbia Bar. Her practice is limited to matters of federal law.
